This is long overdue - but we had the best time with our friend Dan back in August. Hudson and Dan went to high school together so I've known Dan for many years and it's always a blast when he visits!

I am constantly amazed at the hidden places that we stumble across. If you've ever visited Montana in the summer you know that campsites, especially car campsites, equals a lot of people and little privacy. That wasn't the case for us last Saturday night. A few gravel roads, cow crossings and 4 wheel drives later, we stumbled across a very private, hilltop campsite over looking a huge lake.

So, I thought I was in shape, but this past weekend proved otherwise. If you want a calf burner, you should hit up the Pine Creek Lake Trail - you will climb almost 4,000 feet in 4 miles. Yes, it is as intense as it sounds but I promise the views make it all worthwhile....even if you can't walk the next day. :) Don't believe me? Take a look. We had the best time waiting out hail storms, watching the sunset, fishing and spending time with our dear friends!

This was the first of many quick trips, to the Madison River, we would take over the month of June. Hudson spent quite a bit of time helping me with my casting technique (it needed A LOT of work), as it had been months since I had fished. Below are some of my favorites from that evening. Enjoy!!
